Application of IoT in Upgrading Automatic Control of Rope-Poly-Strap Lifting Systems for Cranes and Rotary Excavators

In order to meet the criteria of sustainability through reduced harmful emissions, and social and economic well-being, it is necessary to modernize the infrastructure and technical means not only in all spheres of life but also in the mining industry. For this purpose, the article examines the state of hoisting polyspaston rope systems for cranes and bucket-wheel rotary excavators and proposes an updated system for their management based on IoT. After researching innovative experimental and practical methods, it was found that a secure control system with wireless data transmission and low energy consumption is suitable for harsh working conditions. After the inspection and analysis of the current situation, an option for implementing remote control and strain gauges is proposed. Various platforms such as ZigBee, BLE, LoRa, and Wi-Fi were considered. Wi-Fi was chosen as the transport medium according to bandwidth, distance, data rate, power consumption, and security.
