Simulation Environment for Examining the Pairing Methods in BLE Technology

Internet of Things (IoT) technologies extend into one of 5G layers to monitor and manage connected devices. As 5G expands, so do IoT technologies. They are applied in various areas of modern life, and high-speed communication between connected components is taken care of by new generation technologies. Besides the speed and reliability of transmitted information in IoT networks, one of the key aspects is communication security to ensure a high Quality of Service (QoS). This report presents an improvement to the simulation product developed by the authors. It enables the study of different pairing mechanisms between devices on one of the most common IoT technologies, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The pairing mechanisms implemented in the simulation product aim to provide secure communication between connected devices. The purpose of the developed simulator is to provide an environment for researching the considered mechanisms related to security, as well as their presentation during education.
