A General Vehicular Visible Light Communication MIMO Channel Model

A general three-dimensional (3-D) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) irregular-shaped geometry-based stochastic model (IS-GBSM) for vehicular visible light communication (VVLC) channels is proposed. By discriminating dynamic and static reflection clusters, the impact of vehicular traffic density (VTD) on channel properties is explored based on the developed MIMO IS-GBSM. By introducing weather visibility, the influence of the atmosphere is modeled. Furthermore, to capture the inherent characteristic of channel consistency, the appearance and disappearance of intra-cluster scatterers via the birth-death process are considered. Important channel properties are derived. Through simulation, the impacts of VTD and atmospheric condition on VVLC channel properties are explored.
