Vibration Analysis of Washing Machine under Various Unbalanced Mass

Vibration is the major concern in the front-loaded type washing machine. A small eccentricity is sufficient to cause large whirls at critical speeds. Therefore, it is very important to find methods of removing or minimizing the imbalance in a rotor. Balancing rotors is therefore the primary task of a rotor dynamics engineer. The unbalance effect in a rotating system is to be studied before balancing any rotor system. In a washing machine, a small magnitude of unbalanced weight will cause major failure in the shaft, bearing, washing drum and suspension system. Hence, this work exhibits an analysis of vibrations on the front loader washing machine during the normal cycle and spin cycle under different unbalancing masses. A test washing machine is being utilized for the examination and analysis. The washing machine is being given a default damper which is given by the manufacturer. A test is being held for different unbalancing masses for excitation of vibrations and the measurements of vibrations are being recorded with the help of Data Acquisition Systems. Then the washing machine is modelled in MATLAB, and it’s performance is compared with the original washing machine’s performance under various unbalanced load conditions.
