Abstract:
Character animation is the process of assigning movement to a character model in a two or three-dimensional environment, with a focus on realism, fluidity and performance. It’s an important topic for fields such as video games development or the animated movies industry. However, generating realistic animations for biped characters can be an expensive task, involving complicated software requirements, costly data acquisition and the need for talented graphic artists. In this paper, we analyze how machine learning can be used in order to create a character animation framework, that can generate animation for biped locomotion from a limited dataset, while using minimal computational resources. Thus we used LSTM network and we’ve reached promising results in modeling the character’s movements in a realistic manner.
