Proposal of an Energy Efficient LED LMM Class AB Driver with Bias-T Capable of VLC IEEE 802.15.7

This article provides a brief introduction to Visible Light Communication (VLC) and Li-Fi, describing some of the key aspects of the technology and its expansion. The article presents a case study characterizing a data rate range from 1 Mb/s to 20 Mb/s, aiming to define the best power converter architecture for VLC, referenced to IEEE 802.15.7-2018 standard - PHY II. After analyzing the converter architectures, the linear mode modulator (LMM) was selected, followed by an investigation between class A and class AB, resulting in a better efficiency of the LMM Class AB converter, which was coupled to the DC level and information data through a Bias-T.
