Characterization and Analytical Evaluation Based on the 3- Layer Approach of Smart Buildings

This article is concerned with characterizing and analytical evaluation of the intelligence of buildings. After a brief reminder of the definition of the concept, the authors explain how necessary it is to evaluate the intelligence of a building based on it functions, in order to define an intelligence profile. The suggested evaluation method aims at qualifying three levels (layers) of intelligence from passive behavior (communication layer) to representative layer (physical) and predictive behavior (scheduling layer). These levels should be interpreted through 3 dimensions: time, space and energy. The analytical evaluation used SPSS from the intrinsic data of the building extracted by ArcGIS software in order to make buildings intelligent based on dynamic scheduling or optimization algorithms. We illustrate the approach by applying approach to the technological Hall of the University of Tiaret (THUT).
