Six-Phase BLDC Motor Design Performance Analysis for Electric Vehicle Applications

The rapid rise in the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) is propelled by concerns about pollution and their future potential. Among the various electric motor options available, the widely used Brushless DC (BLDC) motor offers advantages such as reduced vibration, low noise, high reliability, and fast acceleration. This study presents the design and performance analysis of a 6-Phase BLDC motor specifically tailored for EV applications. Using Simcenter Motor Solve software, parameters such as phase current, rotor angle, and cogging torque are analyzed. The electromagnetic characteristics of the motor are significantly influenced by material properties. The selected BLDC motor demonstrates suitability for EV applications due to its advantageous features.
