Abstract:

The world is in the era of mobility. There are over a million vehicles passing on a daily basis. With increasing traffic, light motor vehicles are preferred to motor vehicles like sedans and SUVs. Bikes and Scooters help commuters to travel quickly and with more agility. As a result, rise of sharing apps are seen. Even the delivery of meals, groceries, and daily foodstuffs is carried out by bikes and scooters. So there is an increase in the accident rate by two-wheelers. There is a need to safeguard the commuters by proposing an improved bike safety system. In this study with the help of IOT, skid detection system is implemented and alarm system for quick action after an unfortunate incident. Furthermore, accidents by bikes are varied. Collison, Skidding, and Rollover. But reports convey that the majority of accidents on bikes happen due to skidding and the percentage is alarming at 40.9%.

I. Introduction

Bikes are the most popular, convenient, and affordable mode of transportation. But there are even drawbacks such as it poses many risks with a large number of accidents causing many injuries every year. To get over this issue Bike Accident Detection and Smart Alert System is proposed. The main aim is to detect bike accidents and to notify emergency services and registered members. So this system includes various sensors to detect speeds and even the direction (tilt angle of bike). If an accident happens then the sensor will detect it immediately and it will send alert messages. Biker’s location and other relevant information to the emergency services and registered contacts will be delivered. With this system, many lives can be saved and it will reduce many injuries due to bike accidents. The system is by testing its accuracy and reliability according to the real-world setting. As per the reports of the World Health Organization (WHO), Globally among all the accidents there are 28% of accidents occurred due to bikes. In 2018 according to a survey by (NHTSA) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States, 47,000 riders were injured and 857 riders were killed in accidents. So these accidents need solutions such as Bike Accidents and Smart Alert Systems.
