FPGA Trojan Attack Impacts on Architecture Performance: A Systematic Approach Revealed

The practice of contracting out various elements of the semiconductor design and production flow to various companies based all over the world has become more and more popular in the past few years. By contracting, the danger of harmful hardware Trojans—adversaries altering original designs—increases. The challenge of identifying hardware Trojans during the very beginning of creation and production rises due to the more complex nature currently available microprocessors. As a result, run-time screening techniques are required to catch Trojans which manage to avoid notice at these phases. The run-time hardware Trojan approach to detection for microprocessor cores is presented in this research study and is built on machine learning. To identify the installation of Trojans which incorporate strange trends in the information sources generated by efficiency indicators, this method employs an updated point-based detection of anomalies technique. Incorporating on-chip tracking devices won't change the initial microprocessor building design. By identifying the introduction of Trojans resulting in denial-of-service, a reduction of the system's efficiency, and modifications in the operation of a microprocessor core, the system can assess the effectiveness of proposed approach.
