Damper Winding Resistance Impact on Synchronous Machine Transients – Case Study

This paper presents preliminary results from the mathematical model of the synchronous turbo-machine that is under development. The model is based on the winding function theory and is derived in the natural frame of reference. After a brief introduction to the synchronous machine swing equation, the influence of the cage winding resistance on the damping effect is investigated in a specific, ideal case leading to rotor oscillations- an instantaneous increase in driving torque.
