D-PHY Interface Characterization by Means of Signal Integrity Simulation

This paper provides suggestions for using Signal integrity (SI) simulation tools to assess the D-PHY interface efficiency of an automotive product. To assure channel parameter conformity, test specifications for the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) D-PHY interface are discussed. Using the D-PHY standard, the Camera Serial Interface (CSI2) serial interface is examined. Simulation outcomes are evaluated using compliance specifications and it is shown that the application of electromagnetic (EM) simulation at the initial design stage enables the necessary layout changes to ensure improved SI performance.
