Comparative Study of Electromagnetic Disturbances between Single-Stage and Two-Stages AC/DC Boost Flyback Converters for LED Lighting Applications

LEDs are gaining popularity in lighting systems because they are known for their dependable performance, extended lifespan, energy efficiency, and eco-friendliness. Nevertheless, these advantages attributed to the capabilities of LEDs are, in reality, achieved through the LED (driver and diode electroluminescent), which can be defined as the power supply that controls and ensures adequate light output from the LEDs. A static AC/DC converter based on rectifier diodes, and electronic switches, which are sources of harmonics and electromagnetic disturbances conducted respectively do this driving. In this paper, we simulate two LED driver topologies on LTspice software: single-stage AC/DC flyback boost, two-stage AC/DC flyback boost. The aim of this work is to evaluate the electromagnetic disturbances in common and differential modes and to compare the obtained results for the two topologies.
