The Impact of Three-Phase High Voltage Overhead Powerlines Characteristics on Electromagnetic Field Interference

This study investigates the impact of three-phase powerline characteristics on electromagnetic field interferences prime magnetic field interferences. Electromagnetic fields generated by power transmission lines can have detrimental effects on nearby metallic structures, electronic devices, and human health. Understanding the relationship between powerline characteristics and electromagnetic interference is crucial for the development of effective mitigation strategies. To assess the effect of three-phase powerline characteristics on magnetic field interferences, the study presents a comprehensive set of numerical simulation studies based on the powerline configuration. The findings reveal that the arrangement of conductors, especially in proximity, number of circuits or phase transpositions can significantly influence the strength and spatial distribution of magnetic fields. Moreover, unbalanced loads can lead to increased asymmetry in the magnetic field, exacerbating interferences.
