Numerical simulations for a direct drive horizontal axis micro-wind turbine

This paper presents some simulation results of a small power wind turbine. This study is divided in two parts: first, the aerodynamic simulations are targeting the development of a high efficiency with low cut-in speed blade and second, the identification of the most efficient and cost-effective direct drive permanent magnet generator. The results are highlighting the recommended blade torsion angle and the most cost-effective permanent magnet generator.
