Reactive Power Compensation at Consumers Using Fuzzy Logic Control

The research presented in this article had as objective to analyze how diverse types of fuzzy numbers, decision-making and defuzzification methods affect the efficiency of an FLC dedicated to reactive power compensation. The opening step of the research was to develop a model for the electricity consumer and determine the needs regarding the reactive power compensation. Next, the fuzzy logic controller is designed and diverse types of fuzzy numbers, decision-making and defuzzification methods are used, to decide upon the more appropriate ones. In the research MATLAB/Simulink and MATLAB/Fuzzy Logic Toolbox were employed to realize the simulations and testing of the fuzzy logic controller. The analysis uses twenty-four variants of the FLC, and the results show that the type of fuzzy sets affect the most the efficiency of the analyzed FLC.
