Design and implementation of a multi-battery, multi-chemistry state of health screening system

Considering the growing demand for electric mobility, the need for cost-effective and fast state of health screening systems have to be addressed. The State of Health of a battery is a key indicator of its performance and safety, and the parameters that correlate with it are battery capacity and internal resistance. A proposed solution for a portable, multi-chemistry and multi-battery state of health screening system with digital control is validated using Matlab/Simulink program by modeling batteries with real data. The determination of internal resistance takes 18 seconds, and the proposed system allows testing two cells at the same time, reducing the overall operational time in half.
