A Fully Integrated 230 VRMS-to-12 VDC AC-DC Converter Achieving 9 mW/mm2

This work presents a fully integrated 230 $\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{RMS}}$-to-12 $\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{DC}}$ AC-DC converter in 180 nm high-voltage CMOS SOI. The proposed AC-DC converter includes a multi-ratio switched-capacitor DC-DC converter (SCC). The reconfiguration is realized by parallelizing stages in the SCC using low-voltage configuration switches. Internally generated DC nodes are connected, resulting in low losses. The input control includes a resettable capacitive divider with $\gt 250\times$ less losses than a resistive divider. The measured power density is 9 $\mathrm{mW}/\mathrm{mm}^{2}$ at 53.1% efficiency, advancing the power density of fully integrated state-of-the-art AC-DC converters by $\gt 5000\times$.
