Professional Development of IT Industry Specialists at the Workplace: Trends, Focus and Prospects

To date the digital economy is a key mechanism for accelerating economic growth in the countries of the postindustrial stage of the development. However, at the global level, plans for its development are blocked by a serious shortage of specialists in the field of information and communication technologies, that is the main driving force of the digital economy. Therefore, the issue of overcoming the shortage of ICT specialists in order to ensure high rates of development of the digital economy and competitiveness in the global market is on the agenda today. The given study is devoted to the peculiarities of professional development of specialists in the field of information technology. The purpose of this study is to present an information model for organizing professional development for IT specialists at the workplace, built on the basis of the architecture of modern IT competencies. The work presents the results of the implementation of the preparatory, analytical, empirical stages of the study. Within the preparatory stage, a selection of relevant educational and end-to-end technologies, that can ensure effective interaction between the subjects of the educational process, was made. At the stage of analytics, an analysis of the structure of the IT-specialist market was carried out. At the third stage, an analysis of data on the needs of the IT industry and the labor market was conducted. The results of the study can be used as initial work-based data for organizing professional development for IT specialists.
