Simulation Study of New Solar Photovoltaic-Thermal System

An uprising energy demand across the world with the crises of depletion of conventional energy resources such as oil, coal, gas etc. set the eyes of the world towards sustainable solutions for energy generation and its utilization. In the past decades, great evolution of renewable energy resources such as solar energy for achieving sustainable development goals (SDG). The Photovoltaic-Thermal (PVT) systems are meant for providing both electric energy and heat energy by using the existing Photovoltaic (PV) system setup. To decrease the effects of increased operating temperature, cooling of the solar cell is crucial either by introducing a heat-exchanger to maintain constant optimum temperature. Thus, heat extracted is used for other useful purposes. The optimum level of temperature can enhance the electrical performance of system manifolds. The proposed model and its energy system is technically established using specially developed energy system simulations using POLYSUN 12.0 software. Development of dimensionally and parametrically the analogous system setup as that of solar PVT is also indicated in this report. The objective of this proposed work is to present the new solar PVT system and analyze the simulation results of the same. The comparative study of solar PV and PVT system is also presented in this work.
