A Comprehensive Introductory Course Approach for Electrical and Computer Engineering Students

An ongoing introductory course for an undergraduate freshman class of electrical and computer engineering (ECE) is presented. The objectives of this course are to give the incoming students an overview of ECE as a technological discipline and a profession, give the students basic training with the tools and facilities needed to succeed in the studies that are ahead, and to build up individual and group confidence and cohesion to retain the students and counter drop-out from the study program. The objectives and the conduction of the course is outlined, and some observations and final notes are presented.
