MU-MIMO User Selection & OFDMA in 802.11AX-Based WI-FI Networks

Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and Multi-User Multi-Input Multi-Output (MU-MIMO), two revolutionary multi-user (MU) communication protocols, have recently attracted a lot of attention as essential technologies to enhance the performance of 802.11 Wi-Fi networks. User selection, which would greatly increase the MU-MIMO advantages, is not possible due to the substantial channel state information (CSI) feedback problems that continue to plague MU transmission in Wi-Fi networks. Although there is a significant amount of overlap between the methods used for uplink OFDMA transmission and downlink MU-MIMO transmission in 802.11ax-based Wi-Fi networks in that both are initiated by the Access Point (AP), this protocol resemblance is not well exploited for the nearer relationship between these two technologies. The novel multi-user transmission system MUSE is suggested for 802.11ax networks in this research. By using uplink OFDMA broadcasts for MU-MIMO user selection, (MUSE) takes advantage of both the OFDMA and MU-MIMO characteristics. The AP examines and compiles several number of CSI values from the uplink OFDMA frame to optimize the system's additional benefit. The optimum downlink MU-MIMO receiver group is then selected using this channel information. For MUSE, a revolutionary frame structure and resource distribution scheme for OFDMA is developed. Numerous MATLAB simulation results show that MUSE significantly boosts network throughput while also successfully co-existing with older nodes, especially in small-scale network settings.
