Generalized-Order PI Controllers Based On Set Point Weighted Structure

This paper proposes a design of generalized order Proportional-Integral (PI) controller based on set point weighted algorithm for multivariable process. Sometimes generalized order could be an integer or fractional order and it mainly depends on type of processes. A decoupling approach is incorporated for multivariable processes and it is a suitable approach to eliminate strong interactions between the variables. In this paper, a simplified decoupling approach is considered to eliminate the interactions between the variables of the loops in the processes. A Set point weighted method is considered to derive the parameters in the generalized order PI controller. Set point weights in PI controller can be used to tune the parameter and adjust the set point to exhibit the desired performance. Finally, the proposed method will improve the servo and regulatory behavior of the processes. The proposed method will be suitable for model uncertainties. Two various examples of higher order plants with time delay are carried out in simulation study to illustrate the obtained performance of proposed method. The results from the simulation study are compared with the optimal MOPSO PI controller method. Simulation results will exhibit the better achievement of the proposed method. Disturbance effects are added to the system and the improved performance are shown in the simulation results. The performance indices like IAE, ISE and total variation are tabulated to illustrate the performance of proposed method. The proposed control algorithm will be designed and implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
