Fuzzy Inference Based Open and Short Circuit Fault Detection in PMSM with Magnetic Domain Model

This paper presents a Magnetic Domain Model based approach for open and short-circuit fault detection in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Magnetic domain Model of PMSM has been simulated using Simscape Electrical 2022a. The current waveform pattern has been used to detect open circuit, short circuit, and no-fault conditions at tooth level. Current waveform of stator tooth for healthy and faulty condition is extracted and analyzed using wavelet analyzer tool in MATLAB. The statistical features are extracted which is used in Fuzzy inference System (FIS) to make decision about the fault type of PMSM.
