A Soft-Switching Single-Phase Three-Arm Double Conversion Voltage Regulator

This paper proposes a soft-switching single-phase three-arm double-conversion voltage regulator that can solve abnormal voltage problems. The proposed voltage regulator consists of a three-arm topology operating as an ac to dc converter and a dc to ac inverter. Different from the traditional four-arm topology, the proposed three-arm topology not only reduces the number of main switches but also improves the system’s reliability. Using simple resonant circuits, all main switches of the high-frequency arm operate with zero voltage on and all auxiliary switches operate with zero current off. Some steady-state and transient simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed voltage regulator.
