High Stability and Long Afterglow of Green Strontium Aluminates Composed of SrAl2O4:Eu2+ and SrAl12O19:Eu2+ Crystals

This paper presents the stability and afterglow of strontium aluminates (SAO) consisting of SrAl
2
O
4
:Eu
²⁺
and SrAl
12
O
19
:Eu
²⁺
. The maximum energy absorption and emission peaks were at 364 and 517 nm, respectively. Upon increasing the Eu
²⁺
concentration, the decay time of SAO:Eu
²⁺
decreased from 46.09 to 13.35 s. When the phosphor was heated to 110°C, the luminescence intensity decreased by only 10%. Furthermore, the SAO:Eu
²⁺
exhibited high moisture resistance and long rechargeable persistent luminescence, hence, it is a promising material for digital optical data storage applications.
