Sizing pipes without iterative calculus: Solutions for head loss, flow discharge and diameter

Solutions for the three main problems in sizing of pipes that usually occurs in engineering practice are given: 1. head loss Δh, 2. flow discharge Q, and 3. diameter D. In turbulent flow, iterative calculus can be easily avoided only in solution of flow discharge Q, while head loss Δh and diameter D can be only calculated through various approximate but accurate non-iterative procedures. This article describes relevant solutions for the observed problems and compares them in numerical examples.
