Optimal Detection of HF Radiolinks Broadband Signal with Joint Amplitude, Phase, and Dispersion Distortion Value Estimation

The aim of this paper is to do a research of the influence of the dispersion distortions of the ionospheric channel on the performance of the Neyman-Pearson detector. The work considers the BPSK signal with three unknown parameters. There are an amplitude, signal phase and the slope of the dispersion characteristic. This set of the parameters are typical for the channels with slow fading. The bandwidth of the signal is 400 kHz, so the effect of the frequency dispersion is significant. The paper mostly concentrates on the detection problem comparing the rate of missed detections in case of absence and presence of dispersion distortions. However, it also includes the study of performance of the estimations, so this work presents theoretical and sample deviations and correlations of the amplitude, phase and the slope of dispersion distortions estimations.
