Objective Evaluation of Audio Broadcast Signal Quality

At one time, the team, which included the authors of the article, carried out work to create an objective methodology for assessing the quality of the transmission of a sound broadcast signal. The technique was based on the results of subjective statistical tests of the perceptibility of real audio broadcasting signal changes in the transmission and storage channels. Verification of compliance with established standards was carried out using a stationary harmonic signal. The development of signal processing and coding methods has shown the insufficiency for such measurements. The article considers possible ways of improving the methods of transmission quality assessment at the present stage.
