Comparison of Optimal Filtering Algorithms of the Channel Dispersion Slope and the Signal Phase Shift

An important direction of the development of the high-frequency communications is an increase of the signal bandwidth. However, the frequency dispersion of the ionospheric channel has a considerable effect on such type of signals. So, estimation and compensation of dispersion distortions is vital in order to improve the reception performance. Apart from that, it is important to estimate the signal phase because it influences a synchronization a lot. Moreover, characteristics of the frequency dispersion and the signal phase tend to vary in time. Since this fact, the use of optimal filtering algorithms and methods seen to be reasonable. Thus, this paper focuses on the comparison of optimal filtering algorithms including extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter and divided difference filter of the first order in area of estimation of dispersion distortions and the signal phase.
