Research on AGC frequency regulation technology and energy storage joint frequency regulation strategy of thermal power plant

Currently, the power system mainly provides automatic generation control (AGC) frequency modulation function by traditional thermal power units, but its response speed to active power regulation is relatively slow. Due to the characteristics of fast response speed and high control accuracy of energy storage batteries, this paper combines energy storage systems with AGC frequency modulation technology in thermal power plants to propose energy storage charging and discharging strategies and capacity allocation methods to improve the frequency modulation performance of power plants. Firstly, the calculation methods of three indicators, namely, regulation rate, regulation accuracy, and response time, are proposed, and the energy storage charging and discharging strategy is formulated. Secondly, on the basis of considering the impact of frequent adjustment of energy storage on its lifetime, an energy storage economy model with the objective function of maximizing net income is established, and the optimal allocation capacity of energy storage is obtained by solving it using an adaptive quantum particle swarm optimization (AQPSO) algorithm. Finally, the simulation software is used to analyze a specific example, and the results show that the use of energy storage strategy can significantly improve the frequency modulation performance of the unit, bringing significant frequency modulation benefits.
