Energy Consumption Assessment in Refrigeration Equipment: The SmartFridge Project

Energy consumption is a key factor in environmental sustainability and the economy. In the next 30 years, global food production will need to increase rapidly and, in this context, refrigeration will play a pivotal role. In the SmartFridge project, several aspects of the operating cycle of refrigeration equipment are explored. Energy consumption reduction is one of the most important use cases of the project. For this reason, this work provides an assessment of three scenarios in a refrigerator model, in which the indoor temperature and moisture, as well as the interior temperature, are explored to quantify their impact on energy consumption.
