Reconsidering the SAR Range Ambiguity to Signal Ratio: Theoretical Analysis and Measurement Results

Range Ambiguity to Signal Ratio (RASR) is defined as the signal power ratio between the ambiguous to unambiguous signal and is evaluated by a theoretical analysis instead of a realized measurement. With the novel techniques like waveform diversity, range ambiguity suppression by post processing, etc. a novel discussion on the RASR is proposed to be required. In addition, the opportunistic capability to measure the RASR is promised. In this work, a theoretical analysis for RASR is done to cover the waveform diversity and compared with the measurement results. It is shown that the RASR concept shall be reconsidered in terms of its definition and evaluation to cover the latest improvements in this field.
