Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination of Certain Types of Fish Meat

Heavy metals are important pollutants in the environment and can have very serious effects on aquatic organisms and subsequently on the consumer. The area of provenance and the species from which the meat originates influence the quantity of metals that are present in the final product. Heavy metals being present in different concentrations in the soil, water, air, subsequently come under the influence of environmental factors and in fish meat. By atomic absorption spectrophotometry, the following metals Cu, Pb, Cd and Hg were analyzed.
