Semiautomatic system for measuring mechanical properties of stab-proof material structures

From the very beginning of the use of the first so-called cold weapons, humanity has been trying to defend itself from attacks by using appropriate protective equipment. Due to the constantly deteriorating security situation in the world, the demand for these protective equipment is rising. Related to this is the development of new types of protective materials that are able to protect their user from a certain amount of kinetic energy that accompanies each cold weapon attack. In order to meet relatively strict safety and protective conditions, it is necessary to subject these materials to tests that prove their required properties and thus determine the degree of protection for which the material will be intended. These tests should be simple, easy to perform and repeatable, and at the same time they must have a sufficiently high indicative value about the quality of the tested material. For these tests, it is necessary to use special test systems. Most of the systems in use are currently manually controlled and testing is time-consuming. The article describes a new semi-automatic system, which is based on a mechatronic construction, which enables more precise and faster testing of materials. We focus on individual tests of system parameters and constructions of individual parts. The results of tests of part of the system are described and the arrangement of systems for use in practice is recommended.
