Grid Line Galloping Analysis Using Euler Angle Attitude Estimation Method

Analyzing galloping behavior is to develop effective countermeasures to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid. This paper presents a novel approach to estimating grid line galloping using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) device, the Euler angle method, and the Mahony filter. The proposed method effectively estimates the displacement of transmission lines. This method is validated through simulated and experimental data, demonstrating its ability to accurately estimate galloping displacement. In comparison to existing methods, the proposed approach is simpler, more efficient, and requires fewer sensors. The Mahony filter ensures accurate and robust estimation of the Euler angles, while the Euler angle method and IMU device offer an efficient and practical means of estimating grid line displacement. This research has significant implications for the development of more effective and efficient methods for monitoring and controlling grid stability.
