Cloud-based Smart Water Management System

Water management is a significant challenge for many countries and communities throughout the globe. Water shortage and waste are caused mainly by poor distribution networks, wasteful water consumption, and inadequate infrastructure upkeep for the water supply. In this situation, Internet of Things (IoT)-based water management systems may effectively monitor, regulate, and maximize water consumption. This study presents an embedded IoT-based water management system that enables real-time control and monitoring of water supply networks. A collection of components that are dispersed across a water supply network make up the system. Each node is equipped with actuators and sensors that may be used to manage pumps and valves and gather data on the amount, quality, pressure, conductivity, and water flow. The cloud is programmed to send alert SMS messages whenever the monitored parameter exceeds the threshold limit. These nodes wirelessly transmit the collected data to a cloud server, processed and analyzed it to provide water network management actionable insights.
