Optimal Design of Current Starved Oscillator using MOPSO

The design of a current starved ring VCO using multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) is presented here. The ring VCO circuit is built with five CMOS inverter stages. For this design, the three design constraints are used such as power consumption, frequency of oscillation and phase noise. The oscillator circuit is designed in Cadence using gpdk090. The MOPSO-based design oscillates at 1.9 GHz frequency with a power consumption of 108 μW. The phase noise of oscillator at 1MHz is accomplished at -107.4dBc/Hz.
