Effect of Subgrade Modulus, Thickness of Slab, and Type of Loading on the Perfomance of Grade Slab Using Finite Element Software STAAD PRO

As we approach further in time, need for all the commodities increase these commodities may include food grains, vegetables, poultry and meat requirements, fruits etc. all these commodities are stored by the government in huge warehouses and freezers. As the loading imposed due to these commodities is very heavy, special structures are built to withstand this load. This special structure is a slab base structure known as Grade slab/Slab on grade/soil supported slab which withstands when imposed with desired loading. This report gives a comparative analysis of slab-on-grade foundation design using finite element software STAAD PRO in which the slab is imposed to different conditions including thickness of slab, subgrade modulus of soil and type of loading. The comparative analysis is carried out on the grounds of deflection, base pressure, moment parallel to X and Y axis and shear. This study is meant to be a thorough reference for anybody interested in slab-on-grade foundations, including building professionals.
