Characterization of the structural vibration response of the driven motor used for propeller systems

The propeller aerodynamic noise test platform puts forward strict requirements for propeller drive motors, and the motors featuring smaller diameters, higher torques as well as lower noise are highly desirable. Compared with the commonly used DC motor and induction motor, the permanent magnet motor posses a large number of merits, which can meet the above mentioned requirements exactly. First, the electromagnetic structure design of 180kW permanent magnet motor was carried out according to the requirements for the propeller drive motor; then, by resorting to the comprehensive analysis of the electromagnetic excitation characteristics and structural vibration characteristics of the permanent magnet motor, it was concluded that no resonance would occur under the working states of the motor; Besides, the structural modal tests verified the accuracy and effectiveness of the analysis for the vibration characteristics of the motor structure, which ensured the smooth operation of the propeller test platform. Finally, it is clearly shown that the simulation approach adopted in this paper is relatively accurate and reliable, which can lay the foundation for the development of low-noise drive motors for the propeller aerodynamic noise test platform. Moreover, it also implies that this kind of motor has engineering value for practical application.
