A Novel Power System Sectionalizing Strategy Based on Modified Label Propagation Algorithm

Parallel power system restoration (PPSR) could speed up the blackout recovery. The ideal objectives of the PPSR are to sectionalize the blackout system into multiple subsystems, to determine the tie-lines between the subsystems, to minimize the restoration time, and to maximize the load supplied. This paper presents a complicated network community discovery-based label propagation algorithm (LPA) to identify PPSR subsystems. In the proposed algorithm, the improved LPA based on the bus label and node influence index is employed in the proposed sectionalizing model which can reflect the ranking of nodes in the whole network to avoid label oscillation, compared to the conventional LPA; then, an optimization model, which takes into account system topology and sectionalizing constraints, is then formulated to determine the best sectionalizing scheme to minimize cut-sets and real power exchange. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a modified IEEE 39-bus power system, and the simulation results demonstrate that the LPA-based sectionalizing strategy can quickly divide the faulted power system into multiple communities after a power outage.
