Action-on-Edge-Based Control Configuration Technology for Battery Energy Storage System

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) have been widely applied in power system because of their ability to maximize self-consumption and energy arbitrage. However, few studies focus on the high-performance regulation and control of energy storage for distributed users, who typically have variable needs, and the budget of controllers is limited. To fill this gap, a new type of control method based on the action-on-edge (AOE) network is proposed for BESS in this paper. This control model is divided into a combination of several events and actions, which are then transformed into mathematical expressions and can be easily optimized to obtain the instructions. The proposed AOE-based strategy has two advantages: 1) low code complexity, easy to use and expand; 2) complex operations can be performed under the condition with limited communication and computing resources. Simulation results of a BESS for data center are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
