Modeling and Dynamic Performance Analysis of Grid Forming Doubly-fed Wind Turbine

The doubly-fed wind turbine based on grid forming control has the ability to establish terminal voltage independently and maintain stability, but the quantitative analysis of grid-connected stability and dynamic performance is insufficient, which affects the engineering application. To solve this problem, a small signal analysis model of grid forming controlled doubly-fed wind turbine is established. And based on the oscillation mode and participation factor analysis, this essay finds out the dominant modes which are influenced by grid forming control and key control parameters. Furthermore, based on the root locus analysis, the influence of grid strength and key control parameters on the stability and dynamic performance of the system is revealed as well as the variation law. Finally, the simulation model of the grid forming doubly-fed wind turbine is built in MATLAB/Simulink, and the simulation proves the accuracy and effectiveness of the theoretical analysis, which is expected to guide the popularization and application of the grid forming doubly-fed wind turbine.
