Magnet Design of a 5MW Liqhysmes

LIQHYSMES (combination of LIQuid HYdrogen and SMES) has the advantages of superconducting magnetic energy storage and hydrogen energy storage, which can solve the power imbalance problem caused by the output fluctuation of renewable energy because of grid connection. Superconducting magnet is the core component of the system. In this paper, the 5MW LIQHYSMES magnet is taken as the research object, and the total amount of superconducting tapes used by the magnet is taken as the optimization objective. By using COMSOL software and MATLAB software, the optimal economic design scheme of the superconducting magnet was obtained by genetic algorithm.
