Stochastic Generation Expansion Planning Considering Renewable Integration

Large-scale renewable integration brings new uncertainties to the power system, which need to be considered in the generation expansion planning (GEP) stage. For the secure, low-carbon and economic development of the power system, this paper proposes an approach to determine the GEP scheme. First, a set of scenarios considering correlation between load and wind power output is generated based on load and wind power output duration curves. Then, a GEP model using stochastic optimization (SO) method is formulated, where carbon emission cost is considered, and endogenous reserve constraints are adopted. Last, case study is implemented on the modified Garver 6-bus system to verify the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
