Research Progress of Semi-Insulated GaAs PCSS and Spark Gap Combined Switch

Based on GaAs Photoconductive Semiconductor Switch (PCSS), a kind of combined switch with spark gap and photoconductivity switch was designed and tested. Compared with the experimental results, under the condition of the same bias voltage and triggering pulse energy, the output peak value of the combined switch is higher than that of the single GaAs photoconductivity switch. Moreover, in the case of satisfying the nonlinear mode photoelectric threshold, the combined switch can suppress the nonlinear mode of GaAs PCSS.
