Overview and Prospect of Modern Power System Frequency Modulation on Power Supply Side in China

The development of modern power system makes the frequency characteristics of the system more complicated. At the same time, the safe and stable operation of the system puts forward higher requirements for frequency stability. The frequency problem of modern power system is becoming more and more obvious. This paper first reviews the domestic and foreign power system frequency accidents in recent years; then the potential factors affecting frequency stability in modern power system are summarized. Then, the development status of thermal power-storage combined system, wind turbines, and photovoltaic power generation participating in modern power system frequency regulation is summarized. Finally, the problems to be further explored in the power supply side frequency modulation of modern power system are prospected, which provides a reference for the safe and stable development of the frequency of modern power system.
