A two-stage robust SCED model for power systems with inverter-based renewables

New ancillary service providers are needed for power system regulation towards high penetration of renewable energy sources (RESs). In this paper, we investigate RES dispatchability based on the box uncertainty representation, and propose a two-stage robust security-constrained economic dispatch (SCED) model to jointly schedule RESs and synchronous generators. First, we introduce the decomposition concept and uncertain power modeling. Second, we formulate the SCED model considering multiple uncertainties. Third, we utilize Benders decomposition to realize iteratively solving. Fourth, we propose deterministic transformation for nonlinear constraints. At last, the model is tested on a modified 39-bus system. The results show that rigorous dispatch plans are achieved with better economic efficiency.
