Prediction of Partial Discharge of the Cavity in Insulation Based the Digital Twin Technology

In recent years, the digital twin has attracted significant attention. Researchers try to apply this technology to recognize and predict the condition of the power equipment. This paper used the digital twin technology to predict Partial Discharge (PD) in power cables. The cavity model in the insulation of power cables was established in COMSOL to obtain the PD data under different temperatures. The digital twin model combined with the pulse sequence analysis (PSA) spectrum was built and used to recognize and predict PD. The PSA spectrum shows that with the temperature rising, the characteristic of the PSA spectrum is different. The digital twin model can effectively simulate PD events in the cavity. PSA spectrum characteristics provide a new idea for PD pattern recognition and also give a reference for predicting the development trend of PD.
