Analysis of the Advantages of UHV Power Grids for the Power Flow Evacuation Capability of Large Power Systems

To achieve China's 2050 goals, China's power grid has vigorously developed new energy sources, which has also brought great challenges to the safety of the power grid. To adapt to the future high penetration of renewable energy and the high electrification of the power electronic system, higher requirements have been put forward for the power grid planning. Using the method of Line Outage Distribution Factors, this article analyzed the advantages of ultra-high voltage power grid for power grid security using the power grid in a certain region of China as an example. The analysis results show that after the ultra-high voltage DC bipolar blocking and transferred to the inter-regional interconnection line, the power shortage is reduced, the coupling characteristics between the 500 kV regional interconnection line and the ultra-high voltage direct current are weakened, and the maximum inter-regional power flow and the receiving power of the ultra-high voltage DC are increased after the ultra-high voltage AC network is built.
